Performing Meta Tag SEO

Meta Tag SEO is the act of optimising your meta tags. Most meta tags are usually associated with outdated SEO tactics as most major search engines either do not use them in their algorithm or they hold very little weight, although it doesn’t hurt to use them and meta tags for images can be especially beneficial to your website.

What Tags Are Still Used In Meta Tag SEO?

Meta Description –  <meta name=”description” content=”Your Description”>

This is used to give a description of a webpage or a website.

Rel-Author – <link rel=”author” href=”https://plus.google.com/[Google+ Profile]”/> or <a href=”[profile_url]?rel=author”>Google</a>

This is used by Google to give credit to an author. Before Google removed the feature, you used to be able to get an author picture of yourself next to your search results by using this tag.

Rel-Publisher – <link rel=”publisher” href=”https://plus.google.com/[Business Google+ Profile]”/>

This is for business entities who want to link their business Google+ to their website.
